The winter season is here and nothing beats grabbing your skis or snowboard and enjoy some fresh powder snow in the alps. Westbahn now connects Austria's most beautiful ski resorts with all major cities on our routes.
A hassle-free journey to your winter destination
We have summarised all you need to know about getting onboard on one of our trains for your next skiing holiday.

Ski areas along our Westbahn route in Tirol and Vorarlberg
Westbahn offers convenient direct connections to many top ski-destinations in Tyrol:
- SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – ideally located via Wörgl station.
- Zillertal – all major ski areas easily accessible via Jenbach.
- Nordkette–Seegrube, Patscherkofel, Schlick 2000 and Axamer Lizum – directly connected to Innsbruck.
- Hoch-Imst and Hochzeiger – accessible via Imst-Pitztal.
- Venet – via Landeck-Zams.
- St. Anton am Arlberg – gateway to Austria's largest contiguous ski area and a highlight for winter sports enthusiasts.
In Vorarlberg, these ski areas are directly connected to our network:
- Brandnertal – via Bludenz.
- Laterns – via Rankweil.
- Bödele – from Dornbirn.

Ski areas on our Salzburg route
From 14 December 2025, Westbahn will take you straight to Salzburg's Tennengau and Pongau regions with three daily direct services. Enjoy some of Austria's most popular ski resorts:
- Snow Space Salzburg – easily accessible via St. Johann im Pongau.
- Hochkönig – perfect access from Bischofshofen.
- Werfenweng – via Werfen.
- Schmittenhöhe Zell am See / Kaprun – a wide range of slopes for all levels.
- Saalbach Hinterglemm – from Maishofen right into the heart of the Skicircus.
- Leogang / Saalfelden – ideally accessible via Saalfelden.

Bringing your ski and snowboard equipment onboard
On our modern fleet, you can easily and conveniently bring your ski and snowboard equipment with you on your winter vacation – free of charge!
Each Westbahn train has a total of 12 ski racks for easy stowage. Passengers with snowboards can put these in the luggage racks above the seats or in one of our luggage racks on the lower decks.

Our Westbahn ski trains
Our Westbahn trains run 5 times per day from Vienna via Linz and Salzburg to Kufstein, Wörgl, Jenbach and Innsbruck. Two of these trains continue from Innsbruck via our stations in the Tyrolean Oberland to Vorarlberg and Lindau.
Statring December 15th 2024, we connect Salzburg's most spectacular ski resorts with Vienna once per day.
